Topography and Environmental Features
Vechuchira's topography can be described as vast hills with no plains. It is located at an altitude of 3000 feet above sea level. This type of topography is possible due to a powerful earthquake that occurred hundreds of millions of years ago. It also has the peculiarity that where one hill ends, the next hill begins. Population change (census figures)
If we examine the census figures since 1971, the population of the gram panchayat increased only in 1981. It can be seen that the population has been decreasing since 1991. The only district in India where the population has decreased is our Pathanamthitta district. The main reason for the decrease in population is the migration to foreign countries and other states in search of employment.
The increase in the level of education, better living conditions, and the success of family welfare programs have led to the decrease in population.
